Do you want to help libraries? FOLMC offers many opportunities to get involved, whether you want to volunteer, put together a book drive, or assist with a special event.

We are not currently onboarding new volunteers at our Bookstores. Please feel free to check back in future for any potential openings.
Our two used bookstores in Rockville and Wheaton rely on volunteers for many tasks including sorting, shelving, and customer service. Volunteers should be at least 14 years old. Volunteering is an active position requiring bending, lifting, stretching, and shifting boxes of books up to 40lbs on occasion. Volunteers should have a knowledge of book genres and the ability to differentiate between types of nonfiction, fiction, memoir, history, and classic. FOLMC is interested mainly in long-term volunteers so you can be trained in our shelving methods and duties, and for learning the many subject locations throughout the bookstore in order to assist customers.
Honor booksales at MCPL Branches rely on volunteers for tasks including sorting and shelving. Volunteering is an active position requiring bending, lifting, stretching, and shifting boxes of books up to 40lbs on occasion. FOLMC is interested mainly in long-term volunteers to ensure consistency of sales. Apply to volunteer at honor sales here.
FOLMC is looking for library-loving professionals to join our Board of Trustees. Terms begin in January of each year. Our board is a dedicated group of working and retired professionals who have a passion for Montgomery County Public Libraries. They provide guidance, leadership, oversight, and extra pairs of hands to our small staff on a wide variety of projects. Does this sound like you or someone you know? If you have skills in finance, fundraising, human resources, or marketing, or if you know someone who does, complete the online Board Nomination Application here.
FOLMC annually accepts applications for our Board of Trustees Student Representative. Visit our Student Representative page for more information.
Contact us at bookstores@folmc.org if you or your organization would like to conduct a book drive on behalf of FOLMC.
