Important Information for Swapping:

General Info: Both the plant and garden swap will be on a rolling basis, meaning items will be coming in and swapped throughout the duration of the event as visitors come and go. Donations to the Literary Garden are appreciated but not required to participate in either swap.

Garden Plant Swap:

Description:  Divide or remove plants from your garden to exchange for other donated plant material.  Native plants transplanted from the Literary Garden as well as from the gardens of other participants will be available.

Guidelines:  Pot up plants a few days to one week before the swap to help ensure the plants’ health and limit transplant shock before the event.  All plants should be labeled at minimum with latin and common names, but all other known information such as height, width, light requirements (sun/shade/etc), soil preferences (wet/dry/sandy, etc), deer tolerance and other relevant info is helpful.

No invasive plants please!!!

Types of plants we will take are:

  • Natives
  • Perennials
  • Woody Trees and Shrubs
  • Edibles such as tomatoes and other veggies, fruiting plants, and herbs
  • Annuals
  • Bulbs
  • Any other non-invasive-non-natives will also be accepted
*Please no invasives such as english ivy, vinca, nandina, etc.!!!!

Garden Tools and Accessories Swap:

Description: Bring extra or unwanted garden tools and accessories to exchange for items brought to the event by other participants.

Guidelines: Items must be in working and non-broken condition, wiped off and cleared of spider webs and excessive debris.

Possible ideas to bring to the swap include but are not limited to:

  • Unbroken ceramic and terra cotta pots
  • Garden gloves (unused)
  • Hand tools such as hand trowel, hori horis, claws, clippers, pruners, etc.
  • Shovels, rakes, tampers, etc.
  • Tub trugs, buckets, harvest baskets
