FILM:  “Ain’t No Back to A Merry-Go-Round” by Emmy Award-Winning Director: Ilana Trachtman

In 1960, five black students from Howard University sat on a carousel at the Glen Echo Amusement Park and were arrested.  Protests ensued in the community.  Picketers included members of the Freedom Riders and was the first organized interracial civil rights protest in the United States. This activism eventually led to the desegregation of the Glen Echo Amusement Park.  The results of this activism is documented in this poignant film.

Come and witness this historical treasure of a prominent local cultural institution in honor of Black History Month.

No registration required. FREE to the public.
